What an amazing event! The Rock City Marathon was held on the 29th Of October 2017. Hundreds of people participated, of which a number showed their support for Cedar Tanzania by wearing Cedar T-shirts.

Some ran in the 5km race, the 21km, and a few children even ran the 2.5km race with the support of volunteers running alongside them.

A few Isamilo International School teachers and students also showed their support and sported the green and white T-shirt as they ran their individual races.

Sandvik running club participated in the various races too and raised over 2.5million Tanzanian shillings (approx 1,100$) in sponsor money for Cedar Tanzania.

There was a wonderful atmosphere as participants waited at the 5km starting area. Mark O’Sullivan, the Executive Director of Cedar Tanzania was amongst the 21km runners and as he and others passed the 5km starting area, cheers of encouragement went up for help him and the other amazing runners as they headed towards their finish line.

And how did the sponsors do? Well approximately 4 million Tanzanian shillings (around 1,800$) was raised!  Cedar Tanzania would like to give a big thank you to every participant. The sponsor money they have raised has helped pay for the new benches and furnishings of Cedar Tanzania's new Kamanga Health Centre!

Special Congratulations go to Emily Miller, the individual runner who receives the honour of having her name engraved in a plaque on one of the Kamanga Health Centre benches, to commemorate the most money raised by an individual at this Sponsored Cedar Run! Well done Emily!
