Kat is a great facilitator! And a patient one too, especially when she is dealing with such diverse cultures in one group. With a cup of coffee often in hand, she has been leading our Cedar Tanzania team in the Gender Based Violence (GBV) Prevention Network, Get Moving! training program, which has been helping us get ready to implement SASA!, an initiative that aims to prevent Violence Against Women (VAW) by encouraging communities to investigate and address the imbalances of power between men and women.
Through open discussions and self-reflections on topics that explore such things as power balances in our own lives and personal relationships, or issues that challenge our leading styles and levels of activism in our own lives, we are finding out more about ourselves as individuals and as a team.
Going through this training program is helping us explore deep issues that will in turn empower and prepare us to better implement the SASA! program to the communities that we are working in.
Kat has now lead us through all our Get Moving! training sessions. But our team preparations to deliver SASA! will require further training, especially as we begin to implement phase 1 of the project. So sorry Kat, but you can't hang your facilitator cap up just yet! Fancy another cup of coffee!?
